Central Dogma of Biology which is the base to the Bioinformatics
science was discussed by Prof. R. P Singh, Head of the Department
of Bioscience and Biotechnology. It followed lectures by Prof. Pramod
Wangikar of IIT Bombay on Biological Data, Gene Finding and Sequence
Analysis. Dr. Biplav Srivastava of IBM Research Ltd explained the
concept of Biological databases and reasons for popularity of Federated
Databases. Dr Animesh from Mascon Life Sciences took a lecture on
IT and Bioinformatics. This was followed by a talk on Bioinformatics
scenario by Mr. V. Shukla, Telcon Europe Ltd. The concluding talk
was on Bioinformatics Education by Mr. R K Mehrotra.
